Las Dunas
A House Suspended in the Forest
The project for this house is based on a balance of heights, taking advantage of the natural terrain as a reference and seeking to minimise intervention both on the terrain and on the flora of the plot. Using the contour lines as a reference, a villa integrated into the plot and adapted to the existing orography has been designed.
The project is developed in basement, first floor and access/ground floor. It has solariums and terraces, covered and uncovered, as well as an uncovered swimming pool located to the south-east of the house. The floors are organised on different levels on the ground, set back from each other, seeking the greatest visual openness.
Pedestrian access to the house is by means of steps integrated in the terrain, and a road access to the covered car park located on the first floor. From the car park we have access to the rooms on the first floor, separated from them by openings and green courtyards, which also give us access to the rest of the floors.
In the private areas on the first floor there are private bedrooms, a library and the hallway leading to the ground floor. Each bedroom has a connection with nature through covered terraces, which also protect them from direct light in summer.
The ground floor will be used for communal areas, main access to the house, vertical communications module (lift, stairs). A double-height living room type entrance area with the first floor, dining room, kitchen and lounge, leading to covered and uncovered terraces, as well as to the swimming pool.
Due to the topographical characteristics of the plot, a large part of the house will be underground, and this underground space will be mostly used as a wine cellar, gymnasium, spa, installation rooms and storerooms, which are necessary for the house. The uncovered terrace has landscaped areas and open spaces.
